Payment Processing Clerk is responsible for processing incoming payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures. Additionally, they reconcile daily postings and prepare deposits for check transactions. Clerk also processes and reconciles debits and credits, prepares daily forms, and resolves invalid payments.
Duties & Responsibilities
Identifies and monitors customer over-payments and prepares customer refunds.
Inputs check, money order, and credit card payments into client's proprietary system, while preparing cash and check deposit for bank processing.
Resolves inquiries from customers, internal and external, regarding payment applications, refunds, payment rejections and payment adjustments.
Processes payment rejections and sends notifications to customers.
Validates daily reconciliation of all payment and non-payment postings.
Provides clerical support including mailing, scanning, faxing, and copying.

• Excellent PC operating skills (keyboard, mouse) with working knowledge of MS Office to include Word and Excel

• Ability to handle confidential materials with considerable personal tact and initiative

Physical Demands
This position requires a substantial amount of walking, some standing, sitting in an office environment, and light lifting such as three or four reams of paper or books (up to 20 pounds or an equivalent weight) may be required.
Required Education / Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
One (1) year previous work experience in payment processing or banking experience.
