Description

The Project Estimator is responsible for providing accurate and competitive pricing information for both capital and non-capital construction projects within the University of Houston System.

Responsibilities

1. Estimate preliminary and final construction costs and total project costs for proposed capital projects in planning, including new and renovation projects costing under and over $4M.
2. Review contractor GMPs and estimates for accuracy.
3. Maintain and create databases with current and historical regional construction costs.
4. Collaborate with engineers, architects, clients, and contractors on estimates.
5. Recommend cost-effective measures to maintain project budgets.
6. Work with managers to select and implement suitable cost-estimating software.
7. Establish cash flow projections for project duration.
8. Track and document current construction cost indexes.
9. Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: A 4-year degree from a college or university in a relevant discipline or equivalent specialized training.
• Experience: At least 3 years of directly related experience.
• Certification/Licensing: None required.
