Job Title: Subject Matter Expert – Phase Separation

Department: Technology

Reports To: Director of Technology

Summary: As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Phase Separation for Dorf Ketal Energy Services, you will focus on optimizing oil, gas, and water separation processes, ensuring efficient production and treatment of hydrocarbons. The SME will leverage their expertise to provide technical support, troubleshooting, and design solutions for field operations and R&D initiatives. This role requires a high level of technical ability, knowledge of raw materials in phase separation, and experience in designing and formulating products, with application of chemistries in upstream oilfield processes.

Formulation and application knowledge in phase separation, along with familiarity with other product lines, is essential. Superior technical writing skills are required for audits, proposals, and recommendations. The role may involve direct customer contact to build trusted relationships and identify chemical opportunities.

Responsibilities

  1. Serve as the company's expert on phase separation, including emulsion treatment, demulsifier application, produced water treatment, and crude oil dehydration.
  2. Conduct site visits for troubleshooting, optimizing treatment programs, and implementing solutions with field personnel and clients.
  3. Collaborate with management and labs to develop and improve chemical formulations for phase separation.
  4. Provide system design, equipment, and chemical treatment recommendations for production facilities, including technical support and customer advice.
  5. Attend customer meetings and deliver technical presentations to support business growth.
  6. Lead training sessions for internal teams and clients on phase separation solutions.
  7. Drive technological activities related to phase separation in North America, including product development and management.
  8. Analyze field data, evaluate performance, identify trends, and generate reports for process improvements.
  9. Partner with cross-functional teams to innovate and support business development.

Customer Relationships & Continuous Improvement

  1. Build and maintain relationships with customer engineers and technical teams.
  2. Leverage contacts to gain new business opportunities.
  3. Align technical capabilities with market needs.
  4. Support new product development and training efforts.
  5. Implement and maintain quality and safety management systems, promote awareness, and contribute to company objectives.
  6. Participate in other projects as directed.

Qualifications

  1. Deep understanding of phase separation principles and chemistries.
  2. Proficiency in analyzing laboratory and field data for troubleshooting.
  3. Strong project management skills and ability to handle multiple projects.
  4. Willingness and ability to travel extensively within North America.
  5. Advanced computer skills including MS Office Suite.
  6. Experience in problem resolution and customer interaction.
  7. Understanding of root cause analysis and troubleshooting mechanical/mathematical issues.
  8. Physical ability to lift 50 pounds, bend, and navigate uneven terrain.
  9. Education: Bachelor's or Master's in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.
  10. Minimum 10+ years of experience in upstream oil and gas, focusing on phase separation and water management.
  11. Proven record in troubleshooting and optimizing separation systems.
  12. Hands-on experience with chemical treatment programs and safety standards.
