Assistant Project Manager Trainee (Open to Recent Graduates)

Description:

McCorvey Companies is one of the largest HVAC sheet metal contractors, proudly serving Houston, Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Orlando, FL. We specialize in commercial air conditioning, plumbing, piping, and the maintenance of these systems.

We are seeking motivated Trainees to join our team in the following career paths: Assistant Project Manager (APM), Estimator, and Detailer. In these roles, you will work closely with our Manufacturing Facility Leads to gain hands-on experience in ductwork fabrication and rotate through fieldwork with our Journeymen to learn the installation process—essential training before contributing to high-profile projects.

We are looking for candidates with strong attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and a desire to learn and coordinate all aspects of our operations. Under the mentorship of experienced professionals, you will gain valuable insight into project management, estimating, and detailing processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (required)
  • Willingness to complete hands-on Manufacturing and Field Project Training
  • Recent college graduates are encouraged to apply

Key Responsibilities

  • Rotate through departments in our Manufacturing Facility
  • Participate in field training to learn ductwork installation
  • Assist with project planning, estimating, and detailing tasks
  • Support Project Managers in executing management plans
  • Coordinate activities from start to completion
  • Review project designs and suggest cost-saving ideas
  • Track progress and report updates
  • Organize and maintain project documentation
  • Enter and manage data within project databases
  • Assist with budgets, schedules, and timelines
  • Coordinate meetings, calls, and site visits
  • Collaborate with technicians, engineers, contractors, and vendors
  • Maintain strong vendor and client relationships

Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
