Job Description:

Pride Health is hiring for a Certified Sterile Processing Technician to support our client's Ambulatory Surgery Center based in Houston, TX 77025. This is a 13 weeks contract opportunity and an excellent way to join a highly regarded healthcare organization that values safety, compliance, and surgical excellence.

Specific Duties:

  • Decontaminates, inspects, assembles, packages, and sterilizes surgical instruments and equipment according to manufacturer's instructions for use (IFU), AAMI ST79, and AORN guidelines.
  • Operates and maintains sterilization equipment including autoclaves, washer decontaminators, ultrasonic cleaners, and Steris units.
  • Performs quality control checks on instruments and equipment to ensure proper function and cleanliness.
  • Maintains accurate records of sterilization cycles and equipment maintenance in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Properly utilizes PPE when handling contaminated equipment and follows all infection control protocols.
  • Collaborates with Materials Management and Operating Room staff to manage instrument repairs and replacements.
  • Assists with inventory management, supply stocking, and proper waste disposal.
  • Functions effectively as part of the surgical support team and responds quickly in emergency situations.
  • Ensures exam rooms and instrument workspaces are kept clean, organized, and fully stocked.
  • Maintains confidentiality and complies with all HIPAA and patient privacy policies.
  • Provides assistance in training/orienting new staff members.


Must Have Qualifications/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Graduate of an accredited Central Sterile Processing Tech program
  • Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CBSPD or CRCST)
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in sterile processing within a hospital or Ambulatory Surgery Center
  • Strong knowledge of AAMI and AORN guidelines
  • Understanding of aseptic techniques and sterilization practices


What Skills/Attributes Are Nice to Have, and Will Set a Candidate Apart?

  • Previous experience as a Surgical Technologist
  • Familiarity with electronic instrument tracking systems (e.g., Censis, SPM)
  • Proven leadership or experience as a preceptor/trainer
  • Strong collaboration with nursing and surgical teams
  • Attention to detail and ability to problem-solve sterilization/equipment issues
  • Advanced knowledge of infection control and regulatory documentation
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) – a plus


Additional Details:

  • Location: Houston, TX 77025
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday; start times vary based on department needs
  • Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Pay Range: $21/hr - $23.40/hr
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks

*Offered pay rate will be based on education, experience, and healthcare credentials.
