As the Lead Process Automation Controls Engineer, you will act as a subject matter expert and technical resource while leading process controls automation initiatives for a variety of projects, ranging from small enhancements to large-scale capital projects. This role spans both regional and global efforts within Honeywell Energy & Sustainability Solutions (ESS) facilities.

Your involvement will encompass all three phases of project development: Pre-Feed, Feed, Detailed Design Execution, as well as construction, commissioning, and startup activities. This position demands an in-depth understanding of your field and aims to expand your professional skills and capabilities.

In addition, you will serve as a liaison between Project Managers and Control System Integrators, facilitating the installation, configuration, and commissioning of control hardware and software.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Proficient in designing, configuring, and implementing hardware and software settings for the Control Execution Environment (CEE) within Honeywell's Experion PKS Distributed Control System (DCS), with extensive expertise in Experion Batch operations.
  • Deliver engineering services across all phases of projects and operations. This includes designing for both greenfield and brownfield developments, developing control and Cause and Effect (C&E), creating Functional Design Specifications, and drafting Control Narratives.
  • Responsibilities also encompass managing the installation of control hardware, overseeing commissioning, making continuous process control adjustments for operational plants, executing obsolescence upgrades, and leading improvement initiatives. These initiatives include alarm management, real-time data solutions, digital security implementations, budgeting, estimating, crafting Scopes of Work, formulating the Basis of Design, and coordinating, designing, and implementing technologies for process control network infrastructure and software projects.
  • Working knowledge for the design and implementation of OT system architectural infrastructure as it pertains toautomation and process control manufacturing systems (fault tolerant networks, network servers, virtual nodes, firewalls, switches, process information systems, process historians, manufacturing applications, continuous and batch process control, HMI workstations, advanced solution applications, distributed control systems, and software applications, etc.).
  • Develop, know and apply process control technical standards in work performed in the technology, e.g., Standard Maintenance Practices, Engineering Best Practices, etc. Participation in preparation and use of standards for the technology (Controls architecture, networking, system administration, DCS, cyber-security, etc.).

Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
  • 6+ years of Process Automation Controls experience

WE VALUE

  • Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Honeywell Certified Engineering technical expertise/specialist course completions.
  • Experience in advanced analytics capabilities for process Distributed Control System (DCS) solutions and optimize process operations performance, enhance decision-making, and improve overall plant operational efficiency.
  • Experienced in Honeywells Experion Batch, Production Portal and Manufacturing Excellence Platform (MXP) solutions.
  • Exposure to NFPA 85, Boiler and Combustion Systems Hazards Code and Burner Management System (BMS).
  • Project Management skills and experience.
  • Migration OT system experience.
  • Experience in the implementation of a SCADA Equipment Networking.
  • Exposure to multiple Distributed Control System and/or Programmable Logic Controller manufacturers and control platforms.
  • Working knowledge of Honeywell Process History Database (PHD) and/or PI Historian implementation.
  • Exposure to Safety Systems, Fire & Gas Systems, and Emergency Shutdown Systems.
  • Working knowledge of appropriate standards and protocols (TCP-IP, NIST 800-82, ISA 99, IEC 62443, Industrial Ethernet, OPC, Modbus, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server, Cisco IOS and VMWare.
  • Working knowledge of networking/virtualization nodes.
  • Exposure to Process Hazardous Analysis and Instrumentation & Controls.
  • Strong Leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Individuals that quickly analyze, incorporate and apply new information and concepts.
  • Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work with little supervision, who consistently take the initiative to get things done.
  • Ability to adapt dictated by project changes.
  • Multi-tasking and has the ability to manage a variety of complicated tasks and people.
  • Making independent decisions.
  • Extensive engineering experience within the industrial sector.
