Description:

Special Projects Coordinator II

Performs advanced professional, administrative, and consultative work in support of a program or project. Facilitates the planning, development, and implementation of goals, objectives, guidelines, procedures, schedules, priorities, and/or methods for achieving program or project goals. Work requires extensive contact with department management, external governmental agencies, and organizations. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.

Special Projects Coordinator III

Performs highly advanced professional, administrative, and consultative work in support of a program or project. Establishes objectives, guidelines, procedures, schedules, priorities, and/or methods for achieving program or project goals. Work requires extensive contact with department management and external governmental agencies or organizations. May serve as a lead worker. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.

Essential Duties:

Special Projects Coordinator II

    • Represents the Department and participates on interagency groups, technical committees, or special task force groups
    • Determines trends and prepares administrative reports, studies, and specialized research projects
    • Evaluates, develops, and interprets policies/procedures
    • Analyzes policies and operations, identifies strategies to make improvements, and facilitates collaboration amongdifferent groups to resolve issues
    • Evaluates statistical data and interprets results; prepares reports on program and/or project activities
    • Prepares and presents information on various programs, projects, and activities to executives, departmental staff, and/or at professional meetings, seminars, and conferences
    • Serves as point of contact and/or liaison for programs or special projects with other departmental staff, governmental entities, and/or the public
    • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned

Special Projects Coordinator III

Includes all essential duties listed for Special Projects Coordinator II, as well as:

    • Identifies and assesses the need for new programs or projects
    • May serve as a lead worker and the related tasks
    • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Special Projects Coordinator II:

Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or a related discipline.Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

Experience: 4 years of business analysis, project or program administration, or related experience. (Experience can be satisfied by full-time or prorated part-time equivalent).Related graduate-level education may be substituted for experience on a year-by-year basis.

Licenses and Certifications: Valid drivers license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

Special Projects Coordinator III:

Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or a related discipline.Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

Experience: 5 years of business analysis, project or program administration, or related experience. (Experience can be satisfied by full-time or prorated part-time equivalent).Related graduate-level education may be substituted for experience on a year-by-year basis.

Licenses and Certifications: Valid drivers license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

        • Developing, interpreting, and implementing policies, procedures, and technical information
        • Speaking to present images and ideas in a clear, concise, organized, and interesting manner to optimize audienceunderstanding and keep the group focused
        • Facilitating groups using effective communications methods; contributing to and guiding groups in defining objectives,staying on task, and reaching consensus; soliciting participation, challenging ideas and summarizing accomplishments and planned actions
        • Evaluating technical and financial information
        • Maintaining effective working relationships with others

        • Preparing technical/statistical reports
        • Using computers, applicable programs, applications, and systems

Special Projects Coordinator III:

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Special Projects Coordinator II or III:

        • Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools
        • Sitting - prolonged periods of time
        • Talking- expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken words
