Highway & Roads Market Sector DirectorPrimary ResponsibilitiesMarket Sector Directors (MSD) are part of HDR's matrix management structure that drive our business. The HDR Highway & Roads (H&R) sector is the largest market sector, representing nearly $1B in annual revenue globally. It includes clients that own and operate highways, toll roads, city, town, and local roads, and bridge structures.
The primary professional services in this sector include: bridge and highway design, traffic engineering, transportation planning, and tolling services. An understanding of H&R clients, their funding, revenue streams, and governmental structures is essential.
The responsibilities are divided into three areas:
The Director will set the vision for HDR's strategy to expand and provide services, support growth initiatives, develop staff, and coordinate strategies with leadership and clients. They will also support business development, client management, and market growth outside the US, including in Canada, the UK, the Middle East, and Australia.
Business DevelopmentThe Director will oversee market share growth, client relationships, and strategic pursuits, working with local and regional teams. Responsibilities include creating strategic vision, serving as a client manager, engaging in projects, promoting HDR services, and representing HDR in industry associations.
Staff DevelopmentLead an organization supporting staff growth, recruitment, and technical excellence. Participate in performance reviews and ensure the team is well-supported.
Support to OperationsAssist in project delivery, monitor performance indicators, support work sharing, and promote quality assurance and technical lessons learned.
