Job Summary: The Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides direct care to patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse, ensuring high-quality and compassionate support throughout dialysis treatments. This role involves patient monitoring, documentation, and clinical assistance during pre- and post-dialysis activities. The PCT plays an essential part in maintaining patient safety, responding to emergencies, and upholding compliance standards in a healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
Accurately document all patient treatment information and observations.
Assist with pre- and post-dialysis patient assessments and related documentation.
Monitor and record dialysis treatment parameters on Dialysis Flow Sheets.
Report significant changes in patient condition or status to the supervising nurse.
Respond effectively to emergency situations during dialysis treatments.
Initiate basic CPR measures when necessary and assist with emergency operational procedures.
Maintain compliance with all safety, quality, and infection control standards.
Required Experience:
High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
Must successfully complete a training course in the theory and practice of hemodialysis.
Must maintain current CPR certification.
Nice-to-Have Experience:
Prior patient care experience in a hospital or clinical setting.
Education or background in physical sciences or laboratory techniques.
