Job Summary and Qualifications: Under the general supervision of the Director of Laboratory/Laboratory Manager and the direct supervision of the Phlebotomy Supervisor or designated Lead Medical Technologist the Phlebotomist provides clinical laboratory services to patients in accordance with Departmental and Hospital standards of care.

What you will do in this role:

• Reviews requisitions for completeness and accuracy; reviews pending and collection lists and follows up on necessary items.
• Facilitates communication between the Laboratory and members of the Hospital Staff to enhance patient care services.
• Performs the necessary computer functions for processing laboratory requests, ex: ordering, canceling, etc.
• Receives specimens and distributes to the appropriate department for analysis.
• Responds to the request for draws in a timely manner while maintaining scheduled rounds.
• Answers the telephone pleasantly and transfers calls to the appropriate department of the hospital and takes messages.
• Maintains a neat and clean work area.
• Adheres to all department and hospital policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates the ability to maintain confidential information.
• Correctly and legibly labels all samples.

What qualifications you will need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
