The Boiler Heat Exchange Lead is responsible for coordinating and performing the maintenance, repair, and installation of boiler systems and heat exchangers. As a working leader, this role involves guiding a team of technicians while ensuring safety, efficiency, and adherence to project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership
o Assist the Foreman in overseeing a team of welders, mechanics, and pipefitters.
o Assign daily tasks and ensure the team is aligned with project timelines.
o Act as the primary point of contact for the crew during the absence of the Foreman.
2. Technical Operations
o Perform hands-on tasks such as boiler system inspections, heat exchanger maintenance, tube replacements, and leak repairs.
o Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues in boilers and heat exchangers.
o Ensure proper installation of equipment according to blueprints and specifications.
3. Safety & Compliance
o Conduct pre-task safety assessments and ensure team compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
o Identify and address potential safety hazards on-site.
o Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
4. Coordination & Communication
o Communicate with supervisors, contractors, and crew members to ensure project objectives are met.
o Relay updates, concerns, or needs to the Foreman or Project Manager.
o Coordinate the delivery and availability of tools, materials, and equipment.
5. Documentation & Reporting
o Assist in maintaining records of completed tasks, materials used, and equipment maintenance logs.
o Support Foreman in preparing daily progress and safety reports.
Qualifications
* Experience:
o Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in boiler and heat exchanger systems.
o Previous experience in a leadership or senior technician role preferred.
* Education/Certifications:
o High school diploma or GED required.
o Technical certifications in boiler operation, welding, or HVAC are a plus.
o OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour safety certification preferred.
* Skills:
o Proficient in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
o Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
o Ability to lead a team while maintaining a collaborative work environment.
Working Conditions
* Work in industrial and construction environments, often requiring physical exertion, climbing, and confined space entry.
* Exposure to high temperatures, loud noises, and heavy machinery.
* Requires adherence to strict PPE and safety protocols.
