Your Day at Lowe's

In this role, you will greet customers, assist them in finding the right products and services for their home improvement needs, and ensure their overall satisfaction. You will spend most of your time engaging with customers, answering their questions, and organizing merchandise, though daily tasks may vary by department.

Customer Service Specialists may work in different departments, including Appliances, Cabinets, Flooring, Live Nursery, Inside Garden, Hardware, Tools, Millwork, Building Materials, Plumbing, Electrical, Paint, Home Décor, Tool Rental, or Pro Services, depending on hiring needs and skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome customers to Lowe's, address inquiries, and provide friendly, professional service.
  • Assist customers in locating and managing merchandise.
  • Restock merchandise by identifying empty shelf spaces and replenishing supplies.
  • Accurately process orders and deliveries to ensure customer expectations are met.
  • Train in various areas of the store to optimize customer service delivery.
  • Prepare merchandise in your department based on customer needs (e.g., tint and mix paint, cut and thread pipes, cut and bundle wood).
  • Guide customers through shopping and checkout experiences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of 6 months of experience using a computer for inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
  • A minimum of 6 months of experience with common retail technology, including smartphones and tablets.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic (addition and subtraction).
  • Able to perform tasks that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary for the job.
  • Capable of safely lifting 25 lbs unassisted, or over 25 lbs with or without accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6 months of experience in retail and/or customer service.
  • Bi-lingual skills are a plus.
  • Certification in a trade related to the department (e.g., hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, lumber/building materials).

Travel Requirements

This role does not require regular travel but may occasionally involve travel to meetings, training sessions, or to support nearby stores.

Working Conditions

Environment conditions may vary. You might work indoors and outdoors under various weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold, humidity, and potential noise from equipment. Lifting methods depend on the weight and volume of items handled, with guidelines limiting single lifts to 75 lbs. Team lifts are used for items starting from 75 lbs as necessary. Powered equipment must be used when required, with proper training or assistance.
