U.S. VETS-one of the nation's largest nonprofits committed to preventing and ending veteran homelessness-is seeking a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC or LCDC-I) to support veterans navigating substance use disorders, co-occurring conditions, and housing instability at our Houston location.

What You'll Do

As an LCDC, you'll play a critical role in a multidisciplinary care team, delivering trauma-informed, evidence-based services that support veterans on their recovery journey.

Core Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct comprehensive substance use assessments and clinical evaluations
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with recovery goals
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling focused on substance use and co-occurring disorders
  • Facilitate psychoeducation, relapse prevention, and recovery-oriented groups
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with Texas DSHS, VA, and program standards
  • Collaborate closely with case managers, housing staff, and clinical leadership to coordinate care
  • Connect veterans to community-based resources including medical, psychiatric, and social services

Required Qualifications
  • Active LCDC or LCDC-I license in good standing in the state of Texas
  • Bachelor's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related field; Master's degree a plus.
  • Knowledge of substance use disorders, recovery principles, and evidence-based treatment modalities
  • Experience working with individuals with complex psychosocial needs and co-occurring disorders
  • Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills
  • Commitment to trauma-informed, veteran-centered care
  • Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and other pre-employment requirements
Preferred Qualifications (A Plus!)
  • Experience working with veterans, homeless populations, or justice-involved individuals
  • Familiarity with VA-funded programs (GPD, HUD-VASH, SSVF)
  • Experience with harm reduction, motivational interviewing, and group facilitation
