Why This Role Exists

Altamira Material Solutions (AMS) is expanding production capacity at its Houston facility. This role supports steady manual machining demand across diversified work — from raw material through finished components.

This is a hands-on machinist position where skill, accuracy, and pride in workmanship matter.

The Work You'll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

Set up and operate manual mills and manual lathes on diversified work

Perform milling, drilling, grinding, and other manual machining operations

Lay out work and produce quality parts from drawings and sketches

Interpret blueprints and engineering details (with assistance when needed)

Carry jobs from raw material to finished product

Sharpen, rework, reset, and repair cutting tools

Inspect parts during and after machining

Maintain accurate production records

Keep a clean and orderly work area

Support other duties as assigned

Manual Mills

Manual Lathes

Drilling & Grinding Equipment

Standard Precision Inspection Tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.)

What We're Looking For

Required

High School Diploma or GED

3+ years of manual machining experience

Experience setting up and operating manual mills and lathes

Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings

Basic shop math knowledge

Strong attention to detail

Ability to inspect your own work

Reliable and safety-minded

Preferred

Experience working independently through full job lifecycle

Strong troubleshooting ability

Physical Requirements

Frequent use of hands to handle tools and materials

Ability to reach overhead

Ability to stand, bend, kneel, squat for extended periods

Ability to lift and move materials

Frequent lifting up to 35 lbs
