Description:

Defense Litigation Paralegal - HoustonA national law firm located in Houston is seeking a Defense Litigation Paralegal to join their team. Candidates must have 5+ years of personal injury defense litigation (preferably construction litigation) experience within a law firm. Candidates must also have experience with Relativity. Candidates will be working on a heavy litigation docket and must have experience with state and federal courts. A bachelor's degree is preferred. This position offers a hybrid schedule and full benefits.ResponsibilitiesDemonstrate thorough knowledge of federal and state court procedures, including AAA arbitration rules, and maintain proficiency with electronic filing systems across multiple jurisdictions.Provide comprehensive litigation support, including calendaring court hearings, appearances and deadlines, and accurately calculating discovery and procedural timelines.Draft and file routine court documents such as notices of appearance, pro hac vice applications, motions for extensions of time, motions for default, deposition notices, and subpoenas in strict compliance with jurisdictional rules.Manage and maintain both physical and electronic case files, including organizing email correspondence, maintaining document management systems, and preparing detailed deposition, hearing and trial binders.Conduct focused legal and factual research using Westlaw and other legal research platforms to retrieve relevant case law and legal authorities.Assist with all aspects of document production, including redaction, duplication and Bates labeling of responsive documents.Perform cite‑checking of briefs and memoranda to ensure accuracy of legal citations, references and exhibits.Organize, analyze and index legal documents and exhibits to support case development, trial preparation and litigation strategy.Qualifications5+ years of defense litigation experience, preferably in personal injury or construction.Experience with Relativity.Proficiency with state and federal courts and electronic filing systems.Strong research skills using Westlaw and other platforms.Excellent organizational and communication skills.Bachelor's degree preferred.BenefitsHybrid schedule and full benefits.#J-18808-Ljbffr
