PURPOSE OF ROLE:Primarily responsible for directing trains within the rail yard. Their primary responsibility is to control the movement of trains by operating switches. This involves ensuring that trains are properly routed onto the correct track, connecting and disconnecting railcars, and coordinating with the rail operators to ensure the smooth flow of operations.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Inspecting tracks and equipment for safety hazardsActs as the primary ground spotter for rail king operator when switching railcarsWorks in conjunction with the Rail Lead to complete intra-yard railcar switches to supplement TGSCoordinates with Rail Lead to ensure rail equipment is kept in working conditionSupport the blending and packaging operations during any downtime by connecting hoses, collecting samples, building boxes, etc.Execute assignments in an accurate, timely, and safe mannerPerform any additional duties as assigned by the Rail Manager or Operations Manager.KNOWLEDGE / QUALIFICATONS / SKILLS / EXPERIENCEMinimum 2 years rail operations experience, including experience operating a locomotiveFunctional understanding of the processes, procedures, and safety requirements necessary for working in a rail yard and operating a locomotive.Experience using railcar management and warehouse management systems a plusProficient computer skillsExcellent communication skillsGood math, language, and reading skillsFunctional knowledge of a warehouse environmentConsiderate and respectful to coworkersAble to follow instructions given for daily tasksEDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:High School Diploma/GEDPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:A variety of standing, sitting and walking is required throughout the day, including extended periods of time working outside on your feetAbility to operate heavy machinery and equipmentAbility to work in a fast-paced warehouse settingLOCATION:Ravago Americas, Baytown, TX
